We're a bunch of majestic animals, sharing our adventures and wisdom! We were all living in the wild outdoors until humans scooped us up and showed us the warmth and safety of indoor habitation. What makes it exciting moment to moment is our mindset: "Zero fluffs given!"

Scratching in the New Year

Our New Year’s Eve seemed like any other day—until our human brought the scratching post out into the middle of the room. She started tugging at the loose strings, so, naturally, Cheddar and Puccini jumped into the game!

Cheddar, an orange cat, and Puccini, a gray cat, play with shredded rope on a scratching post.

She played along with those two until we heard a shrill, “Ack!” She frowned as she looked at her hands, and then she suddenly grabbed the clippers and trimmed Cheddar and Puccini’s claws.

After that, she made the scratching post almost entirely naked by cutting and pulling off all of the strings. She took out a big ball of string from a plastic bag. She said it was fresh sisal rope and began wrapping it around and up the post.

We just sat and watched as she went around and around and around and around. It really wasn’t all that exciting, so we amused ourselves with the pile of strings that she left on the floor.

As soon as we got bored, human exclaimed, “It’s done!” She sat back, and Cheddar sniffed the post, tweaked out a bit, and was scratching it and rolling about. Of course, after seeing this, Puccini chased Cheddar off and scratched away. Then, Marmy got in on the action!

That scratching post has been the main attraction all day. We’re so glad our human did this for us. What a way to celebrate the new year! Hope yours was as fun!
