These painter’s pyramids may appear simple, but they sure are handy! They can be found at most hardware stores, though we got ours from Amazon in a set of four different colors. What to do with them?
Stack them to a height that suits your needs.
Prop up one end of the paper or canvas for a slight incline during painting.
Lift canvases off the ground or other surface when applying gesso, watercolor ground, or varnish.
If the points don’t provide enough stability, they can be snapped together for better support.
There is probably more you could do with them. For instance, small dowels or pipes (¾” maximum diameter on these specific pyramids) can be fed through the holes to keep the painter’s pyramids aligned, or cable ties could be fed through them to secure them into place.
Princess Puccini even tolerated having one placed on her head for a few seconds of amusement!
These are just some ways of how we use them. An inexpensive, multi-purpose tool? Can’t beat that!
