We're a bunch of majestic animals, sharing our adventures and wisdom! We were all living in the wild outdoors until humans scooped us up and showed us the warmth and safety of indoor habitation. What makes it exciting moment to moment is our mindset: "Zero fluffs given!"

Free Crochet Pattern: The Flatbed

A gray tabby cat yawning as she lies in a plush crocheted bed.

Yes, another cat bed! On one of our many trips to Michaels, we became enamored with the Bernat Blanket Big yarn because it was a jumbo yarn on sale, and we had never worked with such thick yarn before. We purchased colors that nearly matched our site colors… just because!

We made one bed out of one skein and gave it to the cats for testing. It was a hit!

One of these beds can be crocheted in about fifteen minutes.

Notes:

This pattern is worked in the round without joining.
An increase (inc) means to work two of the same stitch in the same space. In this pattern, when you see “inc,” you will work 2 sc BLO in the appropriate stitch.

Materials:

  • 30mm hook (or use your fingers)
  • 1 skein of Bernat Blanket Big
  • stitch marker (we use binder clips)

Pattern:

Ch 3.

Round 1: 2 sc in each ch. Place marker on last stitch. (6 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc BLO in each st. Place marker on last stitch. (12 sts)

Round 3: *2 sc BLO, inc*, rep 3 times. Place marker on last stitch. (16 sts)

Round 4: *3 sc BLO, inc*, rep 3 times. Place marker on last stitch. (20 sts)

Round 5: *4 sc BLO, inc*, rep 3 times. Place marker on last stitch. (24 sts)

Round 6: sc in each stitch through both loops. (24 sts)

Continue sc around until all yarn is used up.

Fasten and weave in loose ends.
