We're a bunch of majestic animals, sharing our adventures and wisdom! We were all living in the wild outdoors until humans scooped us up and showed us the warmth and safety of indoor habitation. What makes it exciting moment to moment is our mindset: "Zero fluffs given!"

Puccini's Special Breakfast Treat

*Scroll down for an update.

Last week, Puccini had conjunctivitis, which happens every once in a while as a herpesvirus flare-up. Her right eye was watering, and the third eyelid was partially covering the eye. She was obviously uncomfortable. We had run out of eye treatment, so we went to the vet for an exam (to make sure it wasn’t an ulcer) and for a new prescription.

The vet confirmed it was conjunctivitis—but in both eyes. She gave us erythromycin ophthalmic ointment. Puccini disliked having it applied to her eyes, but it cleared them up within a week.

Even with bothersome eyes, Puccini did not miss a single morning of her special treat: butter! She knows the routine: wash dishes, scoop litter, BUTTER, coffee. Just the teensiest dab makes her happy, and it’s extra special because none of the other cats know about it!

UPDATE: Puccini was not giving this up for anything! A little bit of butter once in a blue moon is harmless, but tiny amounts every day add up. She insists on her special morning treat, so we had to come up with something else.

A plastic container of colostrum powder.

Now, Puccini has colostrum instead of butter every morning. She has been taking colostrum with lunch since early 2022, so a little extra seemed a wise choice. She is just as happy with it as she was with butter, so yay!
